1930- Kerala Kalamandalam founded by Vallathol Narayana Menon.
Travancore University formed in 1937.
1st chancellor- Srichitira Thirunal.
1st Vice chancellor- CP Ramaswami Iyer.
Travancore University renamed as KeralaUniversity in 1957.
1st Chancellor- B Ramakrishna Rao.
1st Vice chancellor- John Mathai
1968- Calicut University established at Thenjipalam, Malappuram.
1971- Cochin University established at Kalamassery, Kochi.
1st Vice chancellor- Joseph Mundassery.
1971- Kerala Agricultural University formed at Mannuthy, Thrissur.
1983 October 2- MG University formed. Centre at Priyadarshini hills, Athirampuzha (Kottayam).
Dr. Jansi James became the 1st woman to become the Vice chancellor of a University(MG).
1993- Sri Sankara Sanskrit University at Kalady, Ernakulam.
1996- Malabar University established later named as Kannur University.
Centre at Mangattuparambu, Kannur.
2005- National University of Advanced Legal Studies, Kalamassery (Kochi).
2006- Kerala Kalamandalam became a Deemed University.
2009- Central University at Periya, Kasargod.
2010- Kerala Veterinary University formed at Pookod, Wayanad.
2010- Kerala Fisheries University formed with Hq at Panangad, Kochi.
2010- Kerala Health University, Thrissur.
2012 November 1- Thunjeth Ezhuthachan Malayalam University established at Thirur, Malappuram.
K Jayakumar was the 1st Vice chancellor of Malayalam University.
NIT, Kozhikode was the 1st educational institution to become a Deemed University.
2014- APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Trivandrum.

University Grants Commission setup in 1st 5 year plan period to promote & strengthen higher education.
IGNOU- Indira Gandhi National Open University determines the quality of Indian open education.
Gyan Darshan- a study channel initiated by IGNOU & HR department.
Public Service Commission formed in 1956.

Kanthalloor Shala- The ancient University in Kerala called 'Nalanda of South'.
Karunandadukkan(of AyDynasty) formed it.
1817- Rani Gowri Parvathi Bai made education free & compulsory.
1818- 1st English school opened at Mattanchery by Rev. J Dawson.
1834- English education in Travancore started by Swathi Thirunal.
Srimoolam Thirunal permitted backward caste students to study in Govt schools.
