Sree Narayana Guru


Known as the father of Kerala Renaissance.
Born at Chembazanthi, Vayalvaaram (H) on 1856 August 20.
Meditated at Pillathadam Cave, Maruthwamala.
Made 'Aruvippuram Prathistha' in 1888 of Lord Shiva.
Formed SNDP(Srinarayana Dharma Paripalanam) Yogam on 1903, May 15 centred at Kollam.
Guru was the founding president,
Dr Palpu Vise president & Kumaranasan Secretary.
Vivekodayam, the mouthpiece of SNDP began publishing on 1904.
The Motto of Aluva Adwaitashram(1913) is 'Om Sahodaryam Sarvatram'.
In 1922 Ravindranath Tagore met Guru at Sivagiri.
In 1928 Sree Narayana Dharma Sangam formed.
His 1st writing 'Gajendra moksham vanchipaattu' was dedicated to Chattambi Swamikal.
He also wrote, 'Atmopadesasathakam(1897), Darshana mala, Jathi mimamsa, Nirvrthy panchakam, Ardha naariswarasthothram, Siva sathakam'.
G.Sankara kurup called him 'The 2nd Buddha'.
Guru expired on September 20, 1928 at Sivagiri.
