The two important classifications are,
1.Biotic & Abiotic Natural Resourecs.
Biotic NR are obtained from living beings or organic matters like plants, animals, fossils like coal, oil & natural gas.
Abiotic NR derive from nonliving & inorganic matters such as air, sunlight, water, minerals.
2.Renewable & non-Renewable Natural Resources.
Renewable NR are replenished naturally with its consumption. Example- sunlight, water etc.
Non-renewable NR are not replenished at the rate at which it is consumed. Example- fossil fuels.
The fast depletion of Natural Resources is a major concern worldwide. With the world population accelerating, the need for a controlled use of NR or finding its alternatives has become a challenging task.
Natural Resources are a major economic factor of a country, since they exploit it for overall development. Russia is no.1 country with the abundance natural resources followed by USA & Saudi Arabia.
