History
It was established
as International Criminal Police Commission in the International police
Congress at Vienna, Austria in 1923. They chose Interpol as its telegraphic
address in 1946 made it a common name in 1956.
Currently there are
192 country members in the organization. They are budgeted by the member countries.
They function as an administrative liaison between the police agencies providing
database assistance & communications.
The Logo of INTERPOL signifies its influence worldwide. The globe indicates that the organization's activities are worldwide. Olive branches on
either side designate peace, scales indicate justice & sword represent
police action.
