Biodiversity

Biodiversity or biological diversity refers to variety & variability of life on earth. Biodiversity can be at genetic, species & ecosystem levels.
Thus genetic biodiversity is the diversity at genetic level, an example is different breeds of dogs within the same species.
Species biodiversity shows different types of living beings like humans, whales, birds etc.
Ecosystems biodiversity is brilliantly contrasted like coral reefs, forests, rainforests, deserts etc.

Biodiversity is the richest at the tropics. The tropical forest ecosystems cover 10% Earth's surface & 90% Earth's species. Terrestrial biodiversity is 25 times greater than Marine biodiversity.

Megadiversity is the larger biodiversity at a region or country. Megadiversity countries of the world are 17, (Australia, Brazil, Cameron, China, Columbia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Madagascar, Myanmar, Peru, Philippines, South Africa, Venezuela, Zaire) recognized by Conservation International of US.
